Boehner Resignation: How Oklahoma's Bridenstine Won The Coup.

How the news broke

Conservative voters roared in a standing ovation Friday at the Values Voter Summit in Washington after Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) announced Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) plans to retire.
Rubio, who is running for president, shared the news that broke just before his speech, working it into prepared remarks where he questioned why a Republican Congress isn't "able to stop our country from sliding in the wrong direction."

"Just a few minutes ago, Speaker Boehner announced that he will be resigning," Rubio said to thunderous applause.  He told the crowd it is time for Republicans to "turn the page."
Very few things can 'upstage' an address to the UN by the pope. But Friday, Sept 25th is one of those Fridays where politicos just can't keep things scripted.

The Values Voters Summit was in session this morning and Marco Rubio had the honor of announcing the victorious coup.  Cable News Channels were scrambling. The Drudge Report website was dragging.... Congressional offices were difficult to reach by telephone.
Bridenstine: an oft speaker at Tulsa 912

At this morning's Tulsa 912 breakfast meeting, the room erupted into thunderous applause at the breaking news.

On January 6th, Bridenstine came to the floor
to nominate an alternative to John Boehner.
  • Jim Bridenstine.  Where Oklahoma's other congressmen had capitulated and acquiesced to the Boehner machine, Bridenstine fearlessly stood his ground. He openly defied the Boehner machine almost from the day he was elected. Jim's first official vote in January of 2013 was a vote in Opposition of Boehner's leadership.
  • Oklahoma's Republican values.
While there will be relentless battles, at least the Republican party in congress may actually join the battle and press for a real debate.  the US Supreme Court recently ruled a key portion of ObamaCare is constitutional because the congress voted to fund those provisions. that means Boehner's leadership is responsible for giving us ObamaCare during his leadership.

Lucas, Cole, & Mullin; addressing the House.
  • Tom Cole voted with Boehner consistently and served as an apologist  in the media on a regular basis.
  • Frank Lucas was rewarded by Boehner for his consistent loyalty. Frank became Boehner's pick for Agriculture Committee Chairman.
  • Markwayne Mullin not only became a sycophant of Boehner, he became an assistant "whip" for the deposed speaker (a whip is a leader's disciplinarian and coerces party members to 'get in line' with the leader).

Seven weeks ago, Congressman Bridenstine shared with Tulsa World's Randy Krehbiel his inclination to support a move to replace the Speaker:
Spokeswoman Sheryl Kaufman said the Republican from Tulsa “absolutely supports new leadership” in the House, and noted he has twice voted for someone other than Boehner for speaker.
Kaufman said Bridenstine is “reviewing” a resolution filed Tuesday by North Carolina Republican Mark Meadows to “vacate the chair.” While theoretically possible, no such tactic for removing a speaker has ever succeeded. The resolution has been assigned to the Rules Committee, which is controlled by Boehner and includes among its members Rep. Tom Cole, a Boehner ally representing Oklahoma’s Fourth District.
“Removing a speaker in this way has never been done in American history, and the congressman wants to make sure of two things,” Kaufman said in an email.
In a later phone interview, Bridenstine said he would have to be sure the move was constitutional and that there was a clear plan for replacing Boehner, a Republican from Ohio.

  1. Cole, Lucas & Mullin need to take the example and resign so Oklahoman's can elect true consertivatives for their positions.
