Randy Brogdon Answers Questions About The OKGOP And His Resignation

Resignation Effective Sept. 10th

Updated: Resignation letter included.
Randy intended to provide the OKGOP a smoother transition directly to a new chairman, but the OKGOP rules do not provide smooth transitions in this scenario. The party most go without an official chairman for a minimum of 30 days before an election of the State Committee. We'll certainly revisit this rule and fix it at a future opportunity.

Brogdon said he needs to wrap up a number of 'loose ends'  for a more orderly 'passing of the baton'. He assured the candidates running that he will do his best to provide them all the same access to make their case to the state committee members.

Randy says he has 3 priorities in the months ahead:
  1. "Spoil my wife"
  2. "enjoy time with my grandson"
  3. "improve my golf game".

Radio host, Pat Campbell, attempted to delve into some obviously contentious issues, but Randy didn't bite on the bait. Instead he said he intends to "stay above the fray". He was, however, expressing a good bit of introspection about his personal limitations.
So far, 3 individuals have made public statements of intentions to run for the open office:
  • Estela Hernandez
  • Pam Pollard
  • Robert Hubbard
the resignation will be effective Sept. 10th
Immediately when the rumor broke, Estela Hernandez told AP reporters that she is running. Last night I broke a story of developments happening at the Chickasha Tea Party meeting, where Robert Hubbard put his name in the race. I chatted with Pam Pollard, last night. She said she is waiting for the official resignation before declaring her candidacy. We will likely see that declaration at any moment. Randy told Pat Campbell that his resignation statement is being sent today.
Update: Here's the message Randy Brogdon wrote, today-
Serving the people of my community and my state has been a great honor. Whether in the Owasso City Council or the Oklahoma Senate, I have represented conservative values and individual freedom. God has afforded me the opportunity to serve in office several times, and the gift of meeting so many great Oklahomans across our state. Every vote I’ve ever received in pursuit of public service is greatly appreciated.
The support and dedication of many of you has allowed me to serve as party Chairman. Serving a full term as Chairman of the Oklahoma Republican party was always my intention. Unfortunately I will resign as Chairman of the OKGOP effective September 10, 2015.
I apologize to members of our party who supported me, and put their faith in me for leaving early. However this decision was not reached lightly and I'm convinced my resignation is necessary for me, my family, and for the good of the party. I leave with a grateful heart that I was afforded such a wonderful opportunity to serve and offer best wishes for the continued success of the Party.
It has been an honor to serve you and I thank each one of you for the work you do on behalf of our Party and our state.
Respectfully,
Randy Brogdon
