Cruz Exposes The Gap In Trump's Immigration Policy

According to Senator Ted Cruz's immigration policy, applicants for US citizenship  should not be eligible if they have a previous federal convictions in the United States. This includes those who violate federal law by failing to secure lawful entry/residency in the US territories and states.

The issue came up on the campaign trail, this week.  While campaigning this week in Iowa, where he's leading the polls ahead of that state's Feb. 1 presidential caucuses, Cruz suggested he'll be tougher on people in the U.S. illegally than his rival for the Republican nomination.
"There's a difference," Cruz told a questioner at an event in Boone. "He's advocated allowing folks to come back in and become citizens. I oppose that."
The remark was caught on video and first reported by BuzzFeed.

Policy Statement:
To strengthen national security, enhance the value of citizenship, and stop illegal immigration, we must take three steps:
  • First, secure the border, once and for all. No other reform is meaningful if we do not fix our porous southern border.
  • Second, strengthen and enforce our existing immigration laws. We must reverse President Obama’s enforcement “priorities,” which allow a large number of criminal aliens to unlawfully remain in the United States.
  • Third, pursue reforms to the legal-immigration system that will prioritize the interests and well-being of Americans. As a nation built by those fleeing persecution and seeking freedom, we must once against welcome and celebrate legal immigrants while at the same time protecting American jobs and interests.

Dialogue between Ted Cruz and an Iowan..

QUESTIONER: Both you and Donald Trump are really strong on immigration, but he supports deporting all the illegal immigrants. Are you willing to say the same?
TED CRUZ: Absolutely, yes. We should enforce the law.
Q: All?
T.C.: We should enforce the law.
Q: Ok.
T.C.: And in fact, look, there’s a difference. He’s advocated allowing folks to come back in and become citizens. I oppose that.
Q: So no citizens and all of them?
T.C.: So, if you read I have a very detailed 11-page immigration proposal that’s on my website it’s TedCruz.org. It was designed with Rep. Steve King (R-IA) and Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) were the two who sat down with me to prepare it and it is enforce the law across the board.
Here's the raw video...

Policy Statement:
The three core principles of Donald J. Trump’s immigration plan
When politicians talk about “immigration reform” they mean: amnesty, cheap labor and open borders. The Schumer-Rubio immigration bill was nothing more than a giveaway to the corporate patrons who run both parties.
Real immigration reform puts the needs of working people first – not wealthy globetrotting donors. We are the only country in the world whose immigration system puts the needs of other nations ahead of our own. That must change.
Here are the three core principles of real immigration reform:
  1. A nation without borders is not a nation. There must be a wall across the southern border.
  2. A nation without laws is not a nation. Laws passed in accordance with our Constitutional system of government must be enforced.
  3. A nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation. Any immigration plan must improve jobs, wages and security for all Americans.
