Update to previous report:
Third District Chairman, Robert Hubbard reports that a conference-call discussion involving members of the existing OKGOP State Executive Committee has recommended to rescind the previously posted October 10th State Committee meeting and instead call for an October 11th Sunday afternoon meeting. Here is the note sent to a State Committee member, late today:
Dear State Committee Members,
This is an official call from Interim Chairman, Estela Hernandez, for a State Committee Meeting. It will take place on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Oklahoma City Community College, 7777 S. May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73159 (The College Union general dining area). The meeting will begin at 2:30pm. The purpose of this State Committee Meeting is to elect a new State Chairman in accordance with OKGOP rules (see Rule 10-State Committee).
The OKGOP Central Committee and Executive Committee have met and discussed various dates for the State Committee Meeting. To minimize scheduling conflicts, we have decided to hold the State Committee meeting on Sunday, October 11, 2015.
The proxy form is attached and the agenda will follow. Please submit a scanned copy of the proxy form to office@okgop.com or submit it in person on the day of the meeting.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Some elected officials had previously-planned campaign events and some were not happy with a meeting of the GOP while the OU vs Texas "Red River Shootout" football game was planned.Best regards,Estela HernandezInterim ChairmanOklahoma Republican Party
Questions
Will the change affect the turnout? Will pastors and church-goers be squeezed out by the Sunday change? And did this meeting of the Executive Committee violate Roberts Rules and the OKGOP Rules? There is a requirement that Executive Committee meeting have a 5-day written notice in order to conduct party business. And We still do not have a legitimate ruling on how a teleconference can suffice with Roberts Rules of Order.
Say a prayer for the OKGOP....
