The Tulsa World published the following news update:
According to Senate staff, Brinkley on Monday resigned from his committee chairmanships and as assistant majority floor leader, citing personal reasons.
Bingman, R-Sapulpa, appointed Sen. Jason Smalley, R-Stroud, as chairman of the Senate Pensions Committee. He also appointed Sen. Marty Quinn, R-Claremore, as vice chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.
At a later date, the Senate Republican Caucus will elect a new assistant majority floor leader, Bingman said in a news release.

Brinkley had been in line to become the next leader of the Oklahoma State Senate.
He was fired by the Better Business Bureau in April. The Better Business Bureau on Friday filed a lawsuit against Brinkley seeking to recover more than $1 million. The suit alleges the money was used for personal expenses and gambling.
