Not so fast...
Yesterday we announced that SoonerPoll has declared Ben Carson the winner of the SRLC Straw Poll. That poll depended upon the respondents who attended the SRLC 2015 event, in Oklahoma City.
While 75% of the respondents were Oklahomans, there were plenty of Texans and Arkansans. 19 other states were also present. I was premature to assume that Carson was also the Oklahoma frontrunner. Jamison Faught of the Muskogee Politico was the first to report a surprising internal factoid.
While Carson enjoyed broad support, Scott Walker had a much heavier base from within Oklahoma's borders. So much so that Walker's Oklahoma support exceeded Carson. This cannot be interpreted any other way than to declare Scot Walker the Oklahoma Frontrunner, according to the SoonerPoll SRLC numbers.

Among Oklahoma voters, here are the top five:
- Walker - 23.3%
- Carson - 21.6%
- Cruz - 16.0%
- Christie - 6.2%
- Bush - 5.3%
The race is awfully early and the numbers are tight. Walker, Carson, and Cruz all have oklahoma grassroots organizations. Sooner Politics is actively assisting all the GOP candidates in publishing their Oklahoma organizations.
